🎙 Before you dive in, today is the last day to mint the open edition OPJ NFT! Holders will be able to redeem for a bottle of Overpriced Jin in March and get exclusive first access to live + virtual events, which you can read more about here. Our first event will be in Miami, where Carly will live interview Doodles CEO, Julian Holguin.
🏁 The Fast Meets the Furious
Porsche launched their 7,500 NFT collection on Monday Jan 23rd, after initially announcing the project at Art Basel 2022
Minted for .911 ETH (a reference to the Porsche 911 but in hindsight reads more like a ready-made-pun about needing to call the cops on a mediocre mint) - the collection closed when it was clear it wouldn’t mint out and was resoundingly ridiculed
On the flip side, Porsche put out a utility thread to further explain their roadmap and the floor is holding steady at a healthy ~2 ETH
Most interesting: this eagle-eye observer noticed a “return policy” in the Porsche T&Cs, seemingly driven by EU e-commerce laws. Could this be a requirement for all projects servicing European buyers in the future?
🌈 Doodles are Back, with Mixed Reactions
After a prolonged hiatus, Doodles came in hot on NFT Twitter with all the news
They’re buying animation studio Golden Wolf to build narrative content around Doodles characters; develop brand collabs, series + video games; and incubate IP
FUD grew in response to a separate announcement that OG holders will not be allowlisted for Doodles 2, which will launch on beginner-friendly chain Flow, not Ethereum
Pranksy, who’s got big bags of both Doodles and Top Shot (also on Flow) wrote an eloquent thread on how the move is a boon for web3 adoption
Doodles is obviously intending to be a brand for the masses and tension is brewing as the team attempts to ‘break out of the web3 bubble’ while balancing OG holders’ desires for max gains
😞 KRO Phished
This one hurts - PROOF’s Kevin Rose got rekt when his wallet was drained after being phished into signing a malicious tx offchain in a socially engineered attack
A peek in the vault reveals the loss of millions in NFTs, including 2 dozen Chromie Squiggles and an Autoglyph, the first on-chain generative art on eth
A reminder to us all as we preach self-custody, that we’ve gotta stay on our game, (no really, go safeguard your bags) and that we’re a long way off from mass adoption
