👋 GM, GM friends and welcome to a very quick re-cap Saturday newsletter from your friends here at Overpriced JPEGS. We’re going to catch you up quickly on what you might’ve missed from us and give you a heads up on what’s coming next week!
The markets seem to be a little better in the last few days, both Azuki and BAYC rebounding a bit with sentiment significantly better that it was a week ago.
Of course, NFTs and web3 aren’t just about price or trading…we here at OPJ make sure to give you a broad look at the overall market and this week was no exception.
We’re excited and grateful that today’s Overpriced newsletter is brought to you by Stickies!
At the heart of NFTs are - let's be honest - memes & identity. That's why we're excited to partner with Stickies, who bring your Bored Ape, Pudgy Penguin, Doodle, or other favorite JPEG to life as a GIF that can emote, speak, and truly become your digital alter ego.
Stickies animates your NFTs into over 350+ dynamic GIFs, blending magic, simplicity, and fun within a free mobile app. Our Stickies partnership lets our OPJ community bypass the usual waitlist and dive right into the action so your NFTs can be more than Overpriced JPEGs ;). Download the Stickies app here and start communicating as your PFP. With weekly content drops and surprise artist features, we believe Stickies is redefining NFT utility. Let's add a dash of playfulness to our NFT experience together.
Up first, we had an amazing newsletter on Monday, recapping our deep dive Ordinals conversation with Leonidas, a trader / historian in the space who has been watching it closely.
We gave some of the history of Ordinals as well important projects to track in that space going forward. As we’ve said, it’s a fascinating use of the OG blockchain as a ‘store-of-art’ and we believe it’s worthing learning as much as you can about the growing space.
Then, on this week’s show, our Hollywood meets web3 expert Jon Rogers visited us for another episode of Blockbuster, our on-going series into how mainstream content companies interact with NFTs.
This week, Jon & Carly discussed the new Nouns movie that was funded by the Nouns DAO and then go deep on the distribution on films and how blockchain can and will change it going forward.
Jon will be writing this Monday’s newsletter all about this and you can find more great takes from Jon on his Twitter.
Our Thursday newsletter (written by OPJ’s Jacy) got us caught up on the biggest news in NFTs + Crypto and everything else in-between. If you’re not reading these, you MUST start. They are quick looks at stories each week making news in our space and beyond.
She often finds big stories that might’ve slipped between the crack… for instance, did you know that Mastercard (yes the credit card giant) recently launched a “multi-token network (MTN)” with the idea of onboarding the masses?
And, in our weekly recap, Carly, Gavin & the one & only Zeneca get into a debate (I mean, who hasn’t done this lately) about Blur and whether it’s responsible for the drop in NFT prices over the last three to six months.
Finally, if you haven’t yet read our OPJ NFT Index that came out yesterday, do yourself a favor and take a look…
There’s two brand new entrants: 01n Force & On-Chain Monkey both of whom have fascinating stories that are worth your time.
That’s it for now! We’ll see you back here on Monday and we hope you have a great weekend!
